Tomomi Osakada is a Japanese-born jeweler based in New York.

Her path into jewelry began in 2010 in Japan, where she worked in a small shop customizing everyday pieces by hand. That early experience established her foundation, an approach rooted in precision, subtle detail, and the belief that jewelry should feel personal to the wearer.

In 2012, she moved to New York and continued to develop her craft between New York and Japan. In 2017, she joined Catbird as a bench jeweler, where she strengthened her technical expertise in fine jewelry and gained a deeper understanding of materials, structure, and long-term wear.

Her work has since evolved into fine jewelry, guided by an emphasis on durability, intention, and thoughtful construction.

Raised in Kobe, Japan, she developed an early sensitivity to quiet, passing moments in nature, the light shifting across water, the atmosphere seen from a train window, the subtle changes that often go unnoticed. These impressions remain a constant influence in her work.

Making was always present in her environment. Her mother focused on handmade details within the home, while her father built and repaired objects by hand. As a child, she was naturally drawn to collecting small glass beads, long before she understood their purpose, an early instinct that now connects directly to her material practice.
